AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): The common public on Wednesday alleged slow progress in the construction work of the fly-over at Battala junction.

Talking to TIWN correspondent on Wednesday, the public at battala alleged that the construction work is undergoing in slow progress and there is no development in the site after the collection of sample for the soil test.

The localities also said that, comparing to the prior days the work progress has slowed down after the collection of the sample for the soil test.

However, agitating over the slow progress in the construction work of the first ever fly over the locals also complained that due to the delay in the construction site at battala the people faces traffic congestion at the office hours and cannot reach to their destination.

The locals further complained that if the construction goes on in a such a slow progress the construction work for the flyover will not be completed within the given time period.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar earlier this year laying the foundation stone pitched to complete the construction work of the first ever flyover in Tripura by 30 months, but the progress in the work may delay the completion of the work. One of the leading construction company Nagarjun is entrusted with the construction of Rs. 250 crore sanctioned project work of building fly over which would first of its kind here in the state, alleged localite.

The flyover, which would start from Drop Gate (Fire Service office), would touch Fire Brigade Chowmuhani via Battala. A subway of the fly over will be created up to Melarmath. As per the layout of the project, the Banayan tree and the temple at Battala will be remained untouched by the fly over. The first ever 2-lane flyover in the capital city will lower the traffic jam for at least 40% to 45% and it will make a smooth fast track movement of the vehicles.

However, the flyover was a long term demand of the city dwellers and it needs to be introduced soon to curb the heavy traffic congestion which is increasing day by day in the capital.
