Increasing number of deaths in govt. hospitals in Tripura: doctor’s negligence hits state

AGARTALA/ KAMALPUR, Oct 1 (TIWN): Once again in another blow a 16 years girl died due to doctor’s negligence at Kamalpur B S M hospital. According to the reports, a 16 years girl namely Gitarung Reang who was suffering from fever since last few days, had been admitted to B S M Hospital at Kamalpur where within 24 hours she was expired.

Guardians alleged that Gitarung Reang after was admitted in B S M hospital, doctors didn’t check her properly and with few salines and very usual medicines she had been kept in that hospital. As a result doctors could not able to recognize from what kind of fever she was suffering at all. With her death resentment has been brewed among the locals of Kamalpur.

It’s to be mentioned that death in govt. hospitals has become a common issue here in the state Tripura. Whether doctors are busy in their private chambers, poor people are victimizing at a large in Govt. hospitals. The rural hospitals are suffering the most. In the name of health centres only few empty halls are opened at villages, where no proper equipment neither enough infrastructure are set. In few hospitals doctors’ absence and regular check up through nurses has become is common issue, as a result of which rural Tripura suffers due to lack of proper medical facilities and wrong treatments often.

According to the reports, Gitarung Reang, D/O-Bishurai Reang was reading in Kamalpur Krishnachandra senior basic school. She also residing at Kamalpur Girls boarding School, where she was suffering from fever. But observing her continuous fever, the hostel super called her parents and accordingly she was admitted to B S M hospital but the doctors without proper medical check up, left her on hospital bed with usual medicines, alleged parents. Within 24 hours of her admitting at the Hospital she was expired.

It’s to be mentioned here that with a break of few days repeatedly allegations are coming against the govt. hospitals again and again. Allegations also include renowned hospital’s names as  GBP & IGM hospital.  

Tripura Health Minister Badal Choudhury on Tuesday also agreed that Tripura has suffered miserably due to malaria in last years. However, survey will say that maximum deaths occurred in rural areas which proves that health awareness could not reach at village Tripura and villagers are deprived of proper treatments. But in towns also govt. hospitals are failed to satisfy the common people till now. Unhygienic condition and lack of proper maintenance, doctor-nurses negligence has become the agony for Tripura’s people.
