AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) in a review meeting on Tuesday chaired by Urban Development Minister Manik Dey at AMC conference hall discussed on the major steps to be taken to keep the city clean during the days of Durga puja.

In view of Durga Puja festival, Urban Development Minister Manik Dey held a review meeting at AMC conference hall with the officials of Power department, Traffic department, Pollution control board, PWD and others.

Dey in a meeting urged the officials of the department to ensure adequate arrangements at all the major junction of the capital city during the puja days.

Proper lighting and electrification in all the wards and on all the streets repairing and maintenance of ward roads should be done as early as possible including repair and maintenance of idol immersion at Dashamighat should be given a keen eye, added Dey.

During the meeting, the officials have discussed about the various majors steps to be taken to ensure load shedding free Durga Puja celebration. However, the final decision will be disclosed later.

The Minister informed about promising initiatives to preserve the sanctity and tranquility of the festival.

He said, “Every year people in large numbers flock participates in the festival. The numbers of pandals are increasing too. Due to this, roads of the concerned area would repair at the earliest by the Public Works Department (PWD). The Department would construct drainage along the temple, roads to maintain cleanliness in the streets. Apart from this, the festival days would be supplied with sufficient amount of electricity.”

Addressing the Traffic department, Dey urged the officials to makes all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of this festival and there should not be any report of traffic congestion to avoid any last-minute glitch.

Stressing on the traffic maintenance, he further said that the major city roads should be renovated as early as possible to   provide smooth movement of traffic on the roads.

However, the meeting was attended by AMC mayor Prafullajit Sinha, DM Millind Ramteke, SP Traffic Smriti Ranjan Das and others .
