AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): With the dilapidated condition of the NH-44, IOC is a facing a tough time to cater LPG cooking gas cylinders in the state. However, to overcome this time of crisis IOC is looking forward to cater LPG cooking cylinder through Bangladesh Ashuganj port.IOC has for long pressed to the central government for using Bangladeshi waterways and ports, especially for easy transport of goods from Kolkata and other mainland cities to northeastern states through that country. IOC has demanded to the central government to take up with Bangladesh for allowing their soil and water for transport of goods to Tripura and there is no denying the fact that how Bangladesh will take up the matter for further concern agreement.Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar would attend the chief ministers' meet called by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on September 30, an official said here on Sunday."Sarkar would participate in the September 30 chief ministers' conclave in New Delhi. The meet would discuss Centre-state relations," a top official. As the NH-44 is left in the deplorable condition, most of the goods loaded truck along with LPG cooking gas cylinder truck are stranded in the roads and are unable to enter the state, resulting a crisis of LPG cooking gas cylinders in the distributing agencies.

But Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Sarkar prefers to waste lakhs of Govt money to fly Delhi with his entourage, also finds time to waste 2 days in Delhi to attend Kejriwal’s useless meeting on Centre-State relations – CM has no time to check first hand status of Tripura’s lifeline NH-44.

The likely crisis of LPG cylinders continues is posing a haunt the consumers with people waiting for long time to receive cooking gas in different LPG distribution counters.

With irregularities in the NH44, the consumers of the LPG cylinders are facing the crisis. As the agencies are not provided with the cooking gas cylinder they are unable to supply it to the consumers.

Reportedly, the state requires over 1, 72,535 cylinders every month. The total number of gas agencies is being increased to 46. In such position, the two LPG bottling plants at Bishalgarh and Kalagachhia in West Tripura district are unable to cope with the rising demand for LPG cylinders as they are not getting the adequate numbers of LPG bulk cylinders in the plant for bottling.

A huge backlog has been created all over the state. However, there is no assurance when will the crisis of LPG cylinders will come to an end.

As Food Corporation of India (FCI) consignment enter Tripura via Bangladesh’s Ashuganj river port, the same route can be used for importing LPG cooking gas cylinder in the state.

However, to put an end to the crisis situation, IOC is looking forward to import cooking gas cylinders through Bangladesh Ashuganj port.

It is to be mentioned here that The Tripura government has opened the proposed alternative National Highway 44A bypass, the worst portion of the Assam-Agartala NH 44 in Lowerpowa of Karimganj in Assam for the time being.
