AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): Senior police officers in the state are reportedly divided in two groups. The communication gap between the two are increasing and running a parallel path. The creation of group is brain work of some seniors to enjoy maximum power. This kind of groupism is rarely noticed in police and it is a bad signal for the state. This affects the moral of lower rank officers leading to chaos and unprofessional conduct. It is alleged that the in- charge DGP, K. Nagraj to secure his chair is watering groupism in police. The group led by Nagraj keeps close watch on the movement of IG ( law and order). He is supported by two senior officers Saurabh Tripati and Princee Rani . Both are reportedly rolling the the roost in the state police. The situation is as such that members of two groups are avoiding each other. Serious chaos reportedly prevailing in police headquarter affecting the normal function, directly and indirectly affecting the people of the state. The police are unable to get success due to tussle among senior officers. It is evident from the failure of police in resolving some sensational murder case in the capital. Whether it is the murder of Santa Saha in high security zone, murder of Pritam Saha at rented house of police officer. After police failed both cases was handed over to CID. They also failed to achieve any major breakthrough and still clueless.

Moreover transfer rules for police are implemented. As per rule after two years one has to get transferred but due to the alleged tussle transfer rule took a back seat.

Due to long stay in place police are getting involved with all kind of irregular activities.

Tripura is only state in country where a Chief Minister picked such a corrupt IPS officer for the post of DGP that i/c DGP K.Nagraj was chargesheeted by CBI  on March 29, 2007 for disproportionate assets case corruption.
