AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): In the current financial year, from the month of January to August more than 22 thousand 562 people are attacked by the virus of malaria in the state.
The state however has gained even better control on malaria outbreak as the govt has taken strong initiative to prevent death from malaria in the state, official sources said. A highly placed source in the Department of Health and Family Welfare today said that there are continuous report of malaria attack patient at most of the PHC, and proper treatment is also done to cure the threat of Malaria.
The source also said that so far the state govt. had taken certain measures to prevent the situation. The state medical team has been conducting a regular health camp at the malaria affected villages under all most all the sub-division. There is sufficient medicine available here in the state to take a stock of the situation this time.
Since many tribal populations do not complete the full course of drugs, malaria become drug resistant and once a mosquito bites them, it can infect others. Many malaria cases are reported even in winter because of this phenomenon. As May-June is peak season for jhum cultivation the tribals’ are toiling in fields that are swarmed with mosquitoes and are susceptible to mosquito bites
