AGARTALA, Sep 28 (TIWN): Along with the nation, All India Youth League has also marked the celebration of the 109th birth anniversary of legendary revolutionary, Shaheed Bhagat Singh on Monday at Post office Chowmuhani.
September 28 marks the 109th birth anniversary of the legendary revolutionary, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, who was sentenced to death in the Lahore conspiracy case on 23, March, 1931.
As a part of the program, floral tribute was given to the photograph of Bhagat Singh by the General secretary Biswanath Saha of All India Youth League followed by the hoisting the party flag bat Post office chowmuhani.
However, a discussion was also held on the life story and struggle done by the Bhagat Singh for the freedom of the country.
Speaking at the discussion forum, General Secretary of All India Youth League Biswanath Saha said that, born in a Punjabi Sikh family in 1907 at Banga, Singh had a spirit of patriotism and was attracted to anarchist and Marxist ideologies.
Singh also started following the Non-Cooperation Movement called by Mahatma Gandhi since a young age. However, after Gandhi withdrew the movement, Singh joined the Young Revolutionary Movement, added Saha.
Singh murdered a British police officer John Saunders instead of Scott, the Superintendent of Police, to seek revenge for the death of Lala Lajpat Rai, who died due to the serious injuries he suffered during an all-parties procession in 1928 against the arrival of the Simon Commission.
Singh was also among the prominent revolutionaries who shaped the base of a Grand National movement.
