TRTC manages to  overcome financial crisis  by selling and renting its property

AGARTALA September 24 (TIWN):Tripura Road Transport Corporation ( TRTC) is reeling under severe financial crisis. To overcome the crisis they are reportedly selling or giving rent its land and other properties. According to sources, a large area of land at Barjala TRTC complex has been sold to Agartala Municipal Corportaion.

TRTC have failed to run buses at all routes of the state, even there are no inter- state bus service like before. Decrease of service has affected the income which used to be collected as bus fare.  The authority unable to pay salaries in time.

The state government gave packages  several times  for bailing it out from financial crisis. But all attempt went in vain, the condition deteriorated further. Even Transport Minister Manik Dey reportedly have lost interest in reviving the corporation which was going under loss year after year.Salaries  and  other expenditures are managed  from the earning received from rent  of TRTC property. 

Meanwhile TRTC is all set  to introduce Volvo bus service  for opened Agartala-Kolkata route, via Dhaka, before the Durga Puja to manage traveler pressure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina had launched the much awaited Agartala-Kolkata direct bus service with two buses — one each of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and a Kolkata based private transport company, Shyamali Paribahan.As per the agreement, TRTC has to run a luxury bus.
Moreover, the passengers on the route have increased manifold.
A Volvo bus is almost ready to be supplied to the TRTC by September 15, If everything goes on schedule, TRTC will be able to introduce Volvo bus service in the first week of October, which could be a puja bonanza for the people of the state.At present, ‘Shyamali’ is charging Rs 2,000 per passenger for a one way journey, including Rs 500 as travel tax to Bangladesh, which the Tripura government did not agree to.The state has proposed to charge Rs 1,500 per passenger for one-side journey keeping all aspects in mind.
