AGARTALA, September 24 (TIWN): Agartala - Sabroom and Churraibari - Agartala National Highway 44 has been running deplorable for several years. The prolonged poor condition of the road has been giving pathetic experience to the dwellers.
Reportedly, an approval has been received over to estimate for the renovation of the Churraibari - Agartala National Highway 44. Based on the approval a work order has been given but the work order of another one is yet to be accepted by the Central Ministry.
Recently, an estimate of Rs. 400 crore has been sent to the ministry and now waiting for the approval.
Besides, the deplorable condition of the road has become a frequent disruption to the movement of the vehicles. The long stretch of NH-44 in the Udaipur, Brahmabari Area Malidor is in its worst ever condition with vehicle breakdown all along the road becoming a daily trend, thereby causing heavy traffic jam for hours at a stretch.
On the other hand, the present condition of the Churraibari - Agartala National Highway 44 from its original condition has turned into muddy and full of pot holes. The commuters having no other options travel through this long stretch which is full of pot holes and boulders.
“The condition of the NH-44 within this District is in a pathetic condition and has deteriorated from bad to worse. Commuters and commercial vehicles are facing lots of problem due to constant traffic jams and accidents due to the worsening condition of the road”, said a local.
The bad road condition also poses tremendous dangers to pedestrians and villagers who live on either side of the highway. On many occasions, as vehicles passes by the pedestrians have reportedly been injured with stone chips hitting them.
