UDAIPUR/ AGARTALA, Sept 23 (TIWN): Vexed public of Udaipur came on the road and disrupted the transport movement for hours due to the frequent power-cut which damaged the CNG station at Udaipur since last 2 days.

Talking to SDM Subhashish Banerjee over phone he said, “The incident took place just after the Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan completed his visit at Udaipur”, he added, “Presently there is only one CNG Station at Udaipur Bhrahmhabari area due to which, that particular CNG station remains engaged 24 hours. But due to long duration of power cut people of Udaipur, especially the businessman who drives cars by using CNG, blocked the roads for hours”.

It’s to be mentioned that due to road blockage the road at Udaipur remained standstill for hours.

After getting informed, SDM Subhashish Banerjee along with his police force rushed to that place and talked to the public. In their demands, Udaipur public raised:

  1. To ensure another alternative CNG station so that everyday the drivers do not have to spend hours for gas at this station. It has been seen that after standing in long rows, suddenly it’s found that due to lack of pressure drivers are not getting gas, as a result it becomes an obstracle in their business, as well as it kills their times.
  2. To provide alternative power supplying line. As load-shedding is a very common issue, especially outside of Agartala city, so no CNG station can be totally depend upon the power provided by Electricity Dept.
  3. To bring at least 10 vehicles of gas, instead of 6. Presently 6 vehicles of gas is supplying at udaipur CNG station, but as CNG’s demand is in high, so a chaos is creating everyday due to shortage of gas. So it’s necessary to provide Udaipur CNG station with more supplies of gas.

However, SDM Udaipur took a control over the situation after hearing the demands of the public. Moreover, as soon SDM called the Electrical Senior Manager power had been supplied to that place immidiately.

SDM further said, “On Monday during the whole day it was load-shedding, which was pre-decided, as before 1 day it had been announced that till evening power-supply will be cut at whole Udaipur”. He also said, “On Monday power came at around 7 pm and then CNG was provided after 10 pm also”.

“Unfortunately it was on Thursday that the power again gone particularly in that place, which created resentmement among the public”, said Bondopadhyay. He also added that while talking to Station Manager, he also mentioned about similar problems in providing sufficient CNG to the customers.

“However the manager said that the solution will be brought soon”, he added.

SDM mentioned, “the problem on Tuesday basically occurred due to a fault in power-line, which was only recovered after we made a call to the office”.
