AGARTALA, Sep 19 (TIWN): Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani’s Tripura visit began with “no-planned schedule” meeting with State BJP leaders, who had upset state BJP members at the beginning. None of the key BJP leaders including Sudhindra Dasgupta went to the Airport to receive her, said state BJP President Sudhindra Dasgupta on Friday evening. However it was HRD Minister Smirti Irani herself, who called BJP members to meet her via one of State BJP member, whom she met at Airport and she was eager to visit the BJP party office at afternoon, said Sudhindra. Then meeting was arranged at the guest house that BJP members had a meeting with Smirti Irani at 5 pm where State BJP raised about 3 most important issues of the Tripura’s Education system.“Education dept. is the most corrupt department of state Tripura, although Manik sarkar claims for the highest literacy rate at Tripura”, said Dasgupta and he also added that “We have discussed RMSA scam and other problems of Education system of state Tripura in our meeting at guest house on afternoon”.HRD Minister Irani asked BJP leaders to send corruption details to her regarding education system of state, so that the central govt. can go through this.

 “She also appreciated BJP’s rapid progress here in Tripura along with the whole country.

3 most important issues of the Tripura’s Education system discussed are:.

1.     NIT’s present condition

2.     RMSA scam

3.     Deplorable condition of State education system, including insect filled Mid-Day-Meal

Sudhindra also said that the students of the NIT hostel were very happy as Union Minister herself visited there and observed the hostel, whether State Education Directors, including lameduck Education Minister tapan Chakraborty never bothered to visit condition of hostels of the state.

“Due to her busy schedule, where BJP had no space, created a misunderstanding between both leaders”, said BJP.

Sudhindra further said, “It was at airport that she asked a BJP member that she would like to come to the BJP party office, but due to a miscommunication and delay of getting information, her coming at Party office had to be cancelled. However, she promised that she will surely come again at Tripura and visit State BJP office’ call, as this time she visited State just on official purpose”, said Dasgupta to TIWN.  

BJP remained very silent with the coming of Smrit Irani at the beginning but after they had  a meeting with the Minister at state guest house where all misunderstandings had been cleared. However, Sudhindra also said, “Due to miscommunication we could not bring her to out Party offfice”. According to Sudhindra Dasgupta, Smriti Irani shared tea in Bengali style during the meet.

Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani arrived here at Agartala Airport at 9.30 am and directly visited NIT Agartala, then after meeting at Prgana Bhawan she had met with BJP members and then with tripura CM Manik Sarkar.

However it’s to be mentioned that  Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani  in her meeting with higher education ministers of the Northeast region, discussed about the new higher education policy.Tripura's higher education minister, Tapan Chakraborty demanded to increase in Centre's allocation for improvement of the higher education in the country.
