Union HRD Minister visits NIT Agartala

AGARTALA, Sept 18 (TIWN): Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani arrived here at Agartala Airport at 9.30 am and directly visited NIT Agartala and met the students.Smriti Irani in her speech thanked the directors of Education Dept. for their warm welcome to her. She was present in the festival of Lord Vishwakarma Puja, and accordingly offered prayers to the deity.

In her speech Minister said that many initiatives have been taken by the Govt. of India to upgrade the quality of technical education given to the students of NITs and IITs. Ministry of Human Resource also said that the first initiative Gyan, in which the teachers and directors  of NITs and IITs would interact with the students and find out which international Proffessors or persons would they like to invite to their campus for knowledge. She mentioned, the total cost would be beared by the govt. of India with few limitations as only 90 days will be the maximum limit for the cost to be beared by central govt.

Smriti Irani also said that the central govt. would provide NIT an E-library for the sake of internet access to the students over there expectedly in the year 2016.

She also urged to select 5 villages and help the people in their upbringing with technological knowledge. She also spoke about the New Education Policy which is to be implemented in Tripura.

She further criticizes that NIT Agartala needs to be develop  more, as it still lacks proper infrastructure in its comparison with other Instututions of India.

Followingly, Ladies hostel had also been visited by Union HRD Minister and then her next journey towards Pragna Bhawan was started.
