AGARTALA, September 18 (TIWN): Tripura's student politics never followed constraints and civic limits when protesting or demanding against any issues, neither they possess strength to rise above petty politics and think better things for state.

In Tripura or in Tripuri culture, no one welcomes a first time guest like what NSUI did today by showing black flags - in a remote state like Tripura, a VVIP Union Miister Smriti Irani kind of personalities visit is a boon for state as State gets highlighted nationally , Smriti Irani's sole purpose is helping Tripura's Education sector.

Rather than any positive activity like meeting Minister, NSUI chose to welcome a guest with their black flags fromroadside.

Demanding to withdraw the imposing of common university bill and choice-based credit system (CBCS) on students, Congress’ student outfit National Students' Union of India on Friday staged a protest with black flags in their hand in front of the Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani car, on the way from Air port at Durjoy Nagar.

Talking to TIWN correspondent on Friday, Vice-President of National Students' Union of India Amarnath Chakraborty said that with the imposition of the bill it will create confusion among the student of the various states with different language.Under the CBCS, the government has mandated that central universities adopt a common academic structure and syllabus which includes semester-based courses, standardised examination system and common grading practices, among other things.

Detailing about the scheme, NSUI Vice-President said that it will be hectic for the student to adopt the language mostly. As here in Tripura student mainly prefer Bengali language and it the centre decide to impose Hindi or nay other language on the student over here, it will create a problem. Besides, he also said that the centre cannot simply force the students to learn whatever language chosen by the centre, rather than their mother language. Chakraborty also mentioned that the Delhi division of National Students' Union of India has also protested against the bill. Government is forcefully implementing the choice-based credit system in the universities across country.

They were reached in the spot at around 10 am in the morning and raised slogans against the BJP-led government and to withdraw the choice-based credit system (CBCS) on students.

Altogether 60 supporter of National Students' Union of India were present during the protest, lead by NSUI President Bapi Das and Vice-President Amarnath Chakraborty.

As they could not convey their demands to the Union HRD Minister during the protest, therefore they will be holding a meeting in evening at NSUI office on how can they convey their demands.

However, Union HRD Minister than reached the NIT campus to address the student, teaching and non–teaching staffs of the institute in Visvesvaraya Auditorium of NIT.
