AGARTALA, September 18 (TIWN): A review meeting of South District under JICA Project over Forest Management has been organized at Santirbazaar Community Hall.
Addressing at the meeting, Project Director of JICA D.S Raju informed that the project is mostly focusing on Agriculture, forestry, broom, Gandhaki and garden for big size Elichi. Besides, special eye has been given over the condition of the gardens under JICA project at South District.
During the meeting, emphasising on the maintenance of the garden, the dignitaries has asked to keep regular check on the Garden. It has been decided that along with the main crop an intermediate crop should also be grown side by side.
Officials of For4rest Department informed that in South Tripura there are 89 JFM Committee and a total of 6, 995 families are connected with it.
However, it has been informed that under the JFM Committee altogether there are 462 hector of forest land. In the current financial year 862 hector of land were brought under forestry.
In the upcoming financial year that id 2016-2017 altogether a target of 895 hector of land has been bought under forestry. However, during the meeting the dignitaries have discussed on many other initiatives.
In the meeting, vice-Chairman of Bohafa Panchayat Aparna Datta, South District Forest Officer Arun Kumar, Forest Officer of Bogafa Sub-Division Sanjeev Das and members were present.
