Agartala, Sept 17 (TIWN): Accused Shivani Das and Shika Das were sent to four days police remand when produced in court on Thursday.The Special Investigative Team (SIT) has arrested – Shivani Das and Shika Das wives of Jiten Das younger brothers on Wednesday for alleged involvement in the murder of Kalpana Das. Kalapana s was murdered in her residence at Bridhinagar area under Ranir Bazar police station on April 16 last.

The SIT has so far arrested seven persons including victim’s husband- Jitendra Das, his two younger brothers Atindra Das, Satindra Das and his nephew Sidharta Das for alleged murder of Jiten’s wife Kalpana Das.

 After the brutal killing of Kalpana came to light, the victim’s brother alleged that her husband along with his family had killed Kalpana.

Kalpana’s brother also filed a case alleging that soon after the marriage Jiten Das used to torture her. Kalpana’s family had asked her to get a divorce from Jiten many times but she did not do this thinking of her husband’s reputation as a party leader.

The main accused Jiten Das is a senior CPI (M) leader and former ‘Pashchim Zilla Sabhadhipati.’ His wife Kalpana Das (62) was a retired head clerk of state police. She was found brutally murdered in their home.

Later, the CPIM party officially terminated Jiten from their party.
