AGARTALA, Sept 14 (TIWN): Following the ghastly incident of attacking Magistrate Saurabh Saha by CPI-M picketers during the 24 hour’s All India Strike on September 2, resentments have been brewing among the public of South extending to whole Tripura. However, 4 of the picketers’ names had been lodged into FIR in Sabroom P S, till Sept 5, police only arrested 2 of the picketers Abhijit Dey and Abhik Basak but shorty after Tripura HC Chief Justice visited the spot of the incident Police jumped into action and arrested the remaining 2 culprits. In a sudden shock after these 4 CPI-M leaders arrest, SP South Bhanupada Chakraborty has gone for 1 month leave suddenly which has aroused much controversy here in the state. Allegations are coming that his leave is decided by CPI-M masterminds, so that he can stay away from this matter and in his absence if the CPM goons can get relief and no controversy will haunt against SP.However, talking to TIWN over phone, immediately after the allegations SP Bhanupada Chakraborty said, “There is no connection between my leave and the arrest of 4 persons”. He also said, “The media which raised question on my uniform do not know that CM himself has sanctioned my leave, as all the SPs of state do not get leave within hours without Chief Minister’s permission”.

Chief Justice condemned over the role of police and all South govt. officials by saying that although whole Tripura had observed the strike peacefully it was only South Tripura, which had this violence.

Justice further instructed all of the govt. officials including DM to take steps as soon as possible as “attacking on a judge is dangerous for democracy”. Surprisingly within 24 hours of Chief Justice’s visit to Sabroom, police arrested rest of the 2 picketers namely namely Bijay Dey, Biswajit Dey who were resting in own houses at 3 am. Followingly all of them had been produced before the court and presently they are in Judicial remand of 14 days. The next hearing will be at 24th September.

SP said “However, I am thinking to go to the court against such medias which published fabricated news over my leave”, said Chakraborty.

Bhanupada also said, “One such media wrote on Sunday that I was a teacher before I joined as SP, whether I was working as food inspector under state govt.”

“I applied for my leave before 3 months of this incident, so it’s not possible that my leave has any connection with this incident”, he added.

However, it’s to be mentioned again that on Sept 2, during the strike Magistrate Saurabh Saha alongwith two other employees and a bank clerk was on the way to the court when the CPI-M picketers blocked him entering court. Finally with Police escorted Judge Saurabh Saha entered Court. After a while, when Saha began his work, CPI-M goons thronged into his office and broke the doors and windows alongwith benches and beaten up Judge. Such an incident displays the “mafia-raj” prevailed in the state, in left rule Tripura.

On September 12, at court on behalf of the 4 accused advocate A. Debnath appealed for their bail. But Judge Ashit Basak rejecting the appeal sent Bijay Dey, Biswajit Dey, Abhijit Dey and Abhik Basak for Judicial remand till 24th September.
