ONGC’s irregular gas supply cuts power generation in major plants, Tripura reels under serious load-shedding

AGARTALA, September 13 (TIWN): When the entire state is reeling under serious load-shedding despite the state have its major power generation plants, the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) in its notification to the public mentioned that due to irregular gas supply from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Tripura Asset almost all the major power plants got shutdown.

The notification mentioned, “The Baramura power generation plant has undergone shutdown due to irregular supply of ONGC gas.”

Besides, the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) owned gas based power plant at Ramchandranagar stopped due to non-availability of gas from ONGC as it had gone for the maintenance work of its gas pipelines connecting NEEPCO plant, the notification in the local daily mentioned on Sunday.

It also clarified mentioning that another giant power Plant Rukhia has also undergone for its maintenance work of Unit-9 in view of getting smooth production during this puja.

However, unscheduled and frequent power cuts in the entire state coupled with prevailing humid condition with day temperatures touching 32.5 degree Celsius for the last couple of days and even more have not only affected the daily livelihoods of the people in rural and urban areas but also the work at government and non-government offices has come to a halt just before the puja.

In this regard the TSECL official said that the situation would continue for another week as the ONGC has got irregular supply of gas to the power plants. He said government and the TSECL had already urged the ONGC authority to ensure adequate supply of gas to restrict such worsening situations
