NCD workshop to be observed at Cancer Hospital

AGARTALA, September 12 (TIWN): A workshop on Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) cum Hands on Training has been scheduled to be organized on September 14 at the Cancer Hospital.

During the workshop all the doctors, nurse, laboratory Technician and pharmacist of every District hospitals, Sub-divisional Hospitals and Community hospitals will be provided training.

This initiative has been taken aiming at preventing rise of non- communicable diseases, the government plans to expand National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) from the entire state.

The Central Govt. proposes to supplement their efforts by providing technical and financial support through National Program for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVD and Stroke.

Under this programme it will help to prevent and control common NCDs through behaviour and life style changes, provide early diagnosis and management of common NCDs, build capacity at various levels of health care for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of common NCDs, train human resource within the public health setup viz doctors, paramedics and nursing staff to cope with the increasing burden of NCDs

Besides, it will establish and develop capacity for palliative and rehabilitative care.

It has been mentioned that altogether 140 people will be given the training. Therefore, the number will be divided in to two groups and each group will contain 70 people.

The first group will comprises Doctors and health workers of North Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai and Gomati District. Besides, in the second group Doctors and health workers South Tripura, West Tripura, Khowai and Sepahijala.

However, along with the health worker of the various districts, the Chief officials of Health and Super will also remain present.

The activities at State, Districts, CHC and Sub Centre level have been planned under the programme and will be closely monitored through NCD cell at different levels.

Altogether, six professors from Christian Medical College and Vellore will arrive to provide training to the concern Doctors and Health workers.

Under the guidance of the Principal of Agartala Government Medical College 14 Faculty of Regional Cancer Center and Agartala Government Medical College were appointed to supervise at the two day long workshop.

The Health Ministry has initiated the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) in the year 2010.

In the beginning the programme was first initiated in 42 districts of 21 states and it is expected that by 2017 altogether in 640 districts of the 36 states the programme will be started.

During the financial year 2015-2016, the programme is being initiated in the eight sub-divisional hospitals and in four District Hospital. However, it is expected that by 2017 under this programme the service will be provided in all the Hospital of the eight district and also in the 32 sub-divisional hospitals.
