CM urges the voluntary organizations to come forward to improve the state literacy

AGARTALA, September 8 (TIWN): Urging the teachers, voluntary organizations, NGOs and mostly the mothers and daughters to come forward, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday said that around 40, 000 individuals who have not appeared in the Evaluation Examination of Class III should be made literate.

Speaking at the auspicious celebration of the International Literacy day at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan Chief Minister Sarkar said that altogether 77,000 people has registered their names to appear in the Class III evaluation examination on July 11, 2015, but out of them only 37,000 of them has appeared and among them 82% in state’s average has been passed.

Therefore, Sarkar urged the NGOs, teachers and especially the mothers to extend their hand in order to bring those lacking behind individuals and motivate them. If these people are driven backwards, then automatically the percentage of literacy will go down.

Besides, He also expressed delight over the Swabalamban Scheme which has been introduced in the state as after three years of training 15,000 families across the state could take a stand on their own feet and has began their own business. These families have also employed two to three persons in their small business with which the employed individual is having a source of income.

Criticizing the Central Government CM said that the central government is not giving any sort of attention for the Educational Development programmes. He further said that the reduce in the budget of the Education sector, for inviting privatization and FDI in the country, leading towards destruction of poor and middle class families across India.

Earlier the government used to provide funds for educational developments in all the eight districts and adding particular amount of fund from the state government’s share, literacy and educational programmes were conducted. But the present central government has decided to release fund for a single district that is Dhalai for educational programmes only.

He further said promising to bring good days after coming in power; Modi government has brought bad days for common people across the country.

During the programme, ICA Minister Bhanu Lal Saha, Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Chief Secretary Yash Pal Singh, Mayor of AMC Dr Prafullajit Sinha, DM of West Dr Milind Ramteke, Director Dr K Rajeswara Rao, Chairman of Tripura Commission for Women Purnima Roy, Zilla Sabhadipati of Paschim Zilla Parishad Dilip Das, and others were present at the programme.
