State observes 5th World Physiotherapy Day

AGARTALA, September 8 (TIWN): On the auspicious occasion of the 5th World Physiotherapy Day nineteen students of Physiotherapy of Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences (TIPS) has taken oath on Tuesday at Rabindra Bhavan.

All the nineteen students of Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences (TIPS) who has taken oath would be going for training at Kanpur, Delhi and Mumbai.

The programme was inaugurated by MP Jitendra Choudhury in the presence of Principal of TIPS dr. Nabarun Purakayastha, Administrative officer of TIPS Madhavendra Kumar and others

To mark the auspicious occasion of the World Physiotherapy Day celebration the students of Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences has organized ‘Walkathon’. The student walks all across the capital on Tuesday.

Since 1951 nations have been celebrating the day on every eighth day of September with the motive to sensitise the general public about the crucial contribution made by physiotherapists to keep people well, mobile and independent.

Physical therapists plays an essential role in helping the growing number of elderly people in active aging, besides recuperating the victims of a wide range of mishaps, including road accidents.

However, the human body is remarkably easy to damage and break, so than when participating in strenuous physical activity such as sporting or athletic activity.

Physical therapists tries to undo damage, educate on healthy behaviour and to restore lost or damaged functionality.

The Day is mainly dedicated to these professionals throughout the world, and aims to recognise their commitment to keeping us all fighting-fit.

However, In 1996, the World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT) designated 8th September as World Physical Therapy Day. This is the date WCPT was founded in 1951.
