AGARTALA, September 8 (TIWN): As part of the nationwide project the Crime and Criminal Tracking Networking System (CCTNS) being set up in Tripura will start functioning soon after the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) introduces its high speed broadband services in the state. “We would be able to get the facility of the CCTNS once the broadband service gets faster here in Tripura,†said State Chief Secretary (CS) YashPal Singh.
Talking to the reporters here at the civil secretariat on Monday Singh said, “Once we get the CCTNS system start functioning all the police stations of the state would be connected with a single network.” Adding to that he said that just after the broadband service by the BSNL gets stable here the system can function.
“The new system would help police to solve criminal cases promptly and share information with the police stations in and outside Tripura or with the national agencies,” adding Singh said that an individual from any corner of the state can get an easy access to the network.
BSNL has assured that within a span of eight months, the high-speed broadband service will be available in the state. “It can be said that within the end of this financial year 2015-16, the broadband connection will be available and work smoothly,” he said.
Lastly, he added, introduction of the connectivity with the neighbouring Bangladesh will bring many scopes and opportunities for the people of the state as because, IT industry comprising of software and hardware will be developing in an intense process.
According to an official document, the Central government has approved Rs.2,000 crore to inter-connecting 14,000 police stations and 6,000 supervisory and related offices across the country under the CCTNS.
