AGARTALA, September 7 (TIWN): Tripura’s capital seems to be going to face tough time due to severe shortage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), as the TNGCL is going to stop the supply of CNG for five days to conduct some repair work at the Bodhjungnagar area.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, Manager In-charge Sankar Saha said that the CNG supply will be stopped from September 11 and will continue till September 15 next.

Adding to the statement he said that the organization will try to complete the work as soon as possible. Therefore, the maintenance work may get complete before 5 days itself.

Detailing about the route of CNG supply, he stated that the Koyarpur CNG station and the Udaipur CNG station will be mainly discontinued for the 5 days due to the maintenance work. Besides, the industrial connection will also be discontinued for the period need to repair the pipe line at the Bodhjungnagar area.

He further said that they also has to discontinue the TRTC CNG station as their will be shortage of CNG but still they will try to continue the AD Nagar CNG station.

He assured that there will be no disruption in the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) but shortage will occur in the supply of CNG as during the maintenance period only one point will be that is the Maharajgang Bazaar point will be operational.

However, vehicles that run on CNG have to face the heat for certain period of time as the supply is likely to be restored only after five days.

Soon long queues of vehicles will be seen waiting for the filling up the tanks so that they can somehow manage their vehicles to run over the road during the certain period. Besides, the CNG vehicles owners have to wait till the day for the resumption of gas supply at the filling station.

This decision may lead to the decrease in the number of CNG vehicles over the roads creating problems for the daily commuters. As most of the vehicles in the city are CNG operated vehicles and with the shortage of CNG in the station may lead to decrease in vehicles.
