Fuel scarcity and sky rocketing prices  pinches State hard

Agartala, September 7 (TIWN): Although most of the petrol pumps have run out of stock due to a massive landslide at Lower Poa, Assam, fuel oil are still abundantly available in the black market at exorbitant prices.The price of petrol in the black market has shot up to Rs 100- 150 per litre and the price of diesel to Rs 120-150 per litre.Although, police yet to launch any drive against black marketers, diesel and petrol are still openly sold on road sides and pan shops.Talking to TIWN, a bus driver driver urged the Government to take up immediate measures to end this fuel scarcity.Meanwhile the entire state has been worst it by skyrocketing prices due excessive rain and road blockage. All supplies of essentials have been derailed following the blockade. Price of potato has shot up to Rs 30 per kg, Rs 1050 per half bag of rice, mushori dal costs Rs 150 and onion Rs 80, he said.Pradesh Congress and BJP accused the wholesalers of monopolizing the market and criticized the State Government for keeping mum on the price rise issue which has seriously impacted the common people.

The Weight & Measurement Department under Food and Civil Supplies department is not doing its duty, the opposition  alleged and demanded the Government to look into the matter to solve the price rise woe.

They  demanded that the Government take steps within three days to show price list at every shops or else the  opposition  will launch an intense drive against them.
