UDAIPUR / AGARTALA, September 7 (TIWN): 6 days passed after heinous crime of injecting expired medicines to patients, when a Udaipur girl Debjani Bhowmik had been pushed with expired dated saline after she was admitted to Sub-divisional Hospital at Udaipur. Accordingly CMO (Chief Medical Officer) Nirumohon Jamatia asked SDMO Bishnu Dey to investigate the whole case and take action against Dr. Tamal Sarkar for negligence in duty. However, talking to TIWN over phone Bishnu Dey told that Dr. Tamal Sarkar although was in duty but it was not his fault, as storing duty was under Nurse Kalayani Bhattacharjee, who before going for a leave( of 1 month), supplied these bottles the hospital. However, SDMO is putting all the blames on nurse Kalyani Bhattacharjee who was in “leave” during the incident, and said, “Doctors are not responsible for storing saline bottles”. He also added, “Saline bottles stored 1 year before when Tripura Sundari Hospital was Dist. Hospital”. However, talking to TIWN CMO Nirmohon Jamatia said, “I myself checked the delivery time, it was just before 3 months”.

CMO also added, “I doubt some intrigues played a role behind this incident, and also a CPI-M political groupism working inside this Tripura Sundari Sub-divisional Hospital”.CMO also aded, ‘few people do not want the progress of this sub-divisional hospital and they are no one but CPI-M lobby employees, who are involved in wrongdoings in the hospital’.Although “No Action” against Dr. Tamal Sarkar has been taken, CMO served  nurse Kalyani Bhattacharjee show cause letter even though Nurse was on official leave.

CMO while talking to TIWN rubbished SDMO Bishnu Dey's lameduck investigation, “CPI-M cadre staffs are busy with own profits inside, and their negligence is to destroy the whole Tripura Sundari Hospital”, CMO said while talking to TIWN over phone.

Bishnu Dey, SDMO further said, “ Dr. Tamal Sarkar’s role was in OT, but it was the nurse who took care of these matter. It was her duty to provide the checked saline bottles for the patients before she would go for leave”. However it’s worthy to mention that lots of central and state funds are coming, so why Tripura Sundari Sub-divisional Hospital was using expired dated saline?

“After all it was a mistake ! In future the things will be taken care”,in a vain attempt to cover up commented SDMO Bishnu Dey to TIWN.

Staff nurse Kalyani Bhattacharjee has been served a show cause letter by CMO Nirumohon Jamatia already but “No Action” against Dr. Tamal Sarkar has been taken as Dr Tamal Sarkar was backed by CPI-M lobby.

Question arises:

1)    How can Kalyani Bhattacharjee be totally responsible for this incident, as she was in leave during the incident ?

2)    Is CPI-M lobby selling fresh medicines outside and filling inside stock with expired medicines ?

3)    Why Kalyani Bhattacharjee has given show cause notice, why not Dr. Tamal Sarkar  just because culprit is a CPI-M supporter ?

4)    If Bhattacharjee also had provided those saline, how can SDMO neglect the staffs’ irresponsibility, as it was their basic duty to check the bottle before using?

However, the incident took place on September 1st a school student namely Debjani Bhowmik, student of Hari Ananda Girls School fainted during her school hours.

Immediately she was taken to the Tripura Sundari Jilla Hospital, where she was given expired saline. It was her father Dipankar Bhowmik who discovered that his daughter had been pushed with poisonous saline which already expired. Surprisingly when he reported to doctor who was in duty, Dr. Tamal Sarkar behaved with the patient party very rudely.

Then Dipankar Bhowmik called the media and accordingly it was discovered that hospital was stored with expire-dated saline bottles. Jawhar Das, the store-man has been alleged the main culprit of organized corruption.

It’s to be mentioned that Tripura Sundari Hospital is suffering badly due to lack of proper facilities, staffs, and maintenance. Once the Gomati Dist. Hospital was made, the official neglect and decline of Tripura Sundari Hospital started.

CMO also mentioned later “I doubt a intrigue behind this incident storing of expire dated saline at Udaipur Sub-divisional Hospital, however, I will further go for the case”.
