AGARTALA, September 7 (TIWN): Tripura's 'President Color'ed police is yet clueless about the five absconding culprits involved in the ATM loot and lifting case from Beltatli SBI ATM kiosk under A.D.Nagar police station on August 18 midnight.Talking to TIWN correspondent on Sunday, A.D.Nagar police station O/C Inspector Soumen Das on Sunday said that if the five absconding culprits are not arrested then the police will not able to recover the remaining money amounting Rs. 20.23 Lakh.Detailing about amount looted by the 10 miscreants, Das said that the police successfully managed to recover a total amount of Rs. 10.84lakh and the remaining money can only be recovered after they arrest the five absconding miscreants. However, the other five arrested miscreants are in the jail custody and interrogation is further going on.Earlier, when the representatives of the state police lead by O/C Inspector Soumen Das went to Assam seeking to nab the absconding culprits and has discovered that a gang of 10 members are involved in this crime, has successfully managed to arrest one more related to this case from Assam, identified as Rabindra Baishya. It has been mentioned that Rabindra Biashya is a resident of Assam Doli bari area under Assam Haju police station. The arrested Baishya is the driver of the vehicle AS 25 AC6928 which was used in the robbery on the night of the incident. Besides, it is to be mentioned that so far 5 culprits are arrested and 5 are yet absconding and police is further investigating the case.

Tripura Police's investigating capabilities almost reduced to null after the departures of two honest and dynamic DGPs, K.Salim Ali and C. Balasubramanyam. Current in-charge DGP K.Nagraj is such a corrupt official that CBI chargesheeted Nagraj in 2007 for disproportionate assets case for buying real estates worth 500 times of Nagraj's known sources of income.

However, in a joint operation with the Assam police, the A.D.Nagar police had also collected huge number of evidence from Assam related to the ATM loot and has identified all the five other absconding culprits.

Accordingly, police has conducted raid in the residents of all the identified miscreants but failed to arrest them but has successfully arrested only one accused related to the robbers..

During investigation they also found that huge number of cases are pending and are lodged against the same gang under Meghalaya as well as Assam police station. The gang carries out such type of robbery in the entire NE region, claimed Das.

However, A.D.Nagar police has given the requisition to Assam police to conduct raid and investigation to arrest the absconding miscreants.
