Plantation at the embankment of Howrah River to stop landslides

AGARTALA, September 6 (TIWN): With the initiatives of the 22no. Ward committee on Sunday Van Mahotsav has been celebrated at Biplobi Baghajoti Park.

As a part of the programme, around 100 saplings have been distributed so that the value of trees continues to increase among the people and more benefits of trees are being discovered expanding the knowledge of the importance of trees among the people.
Addressing the programme, the dignitaries focused over the importance of the trees in the daily life of the human beings.Stressing on the importance, Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha said that trees are an important part of every community. The streets, parks, playgrounds and backyards should be lined with trees that create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment.
Trees increase the quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings. He further said that to expand the importance of trees among the people, Van Mahotsav are celebrated at every ward. Besides, he also said that to control the sliding of embankments of Howrah rivers saplings plantation are being going on.
It is impossible to think of living beings existence without trees. As the trees plays an important role in covering a great deal of the food deficiency by providing fruits and vitamins. They supply timber for various uses. Trees also prevent from soil erosion.
Many kinds of medicines are prepared form leaves, roots and barks of trees. Above all, they help us to keep ecological balance supplying oxygen.
During the programme, DFO Ashish Debbarma and other were present at the programme.
