Sabroom, September 6 (TIWN): When the entire land-locked Tripura is battling with the lack of proper rail-link to the North-East, the proposed Rs. 1,741 crore for Agartala-Sabroom railway lines is expected to be completed by 2017. The ongoing project work has geared up with an aim to bring boon for the entire Northeast including the left-ruled Tripura.

Emerging as a gateway for the trade in South East Asia, the Agartala-Sabroom rail link has now come up in the rail map of the country.

In a recent visit by the PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury at Sabroom for inspecting the work progress of railway link from Agartala-Sabroom, the railway officials informed that Sabroom will be connected with Agartala in rail link by March, 2017.

The construction of Sabroom railway station, Railway Yard .Railway Quarters is going in slow due to continuous rain. The rail line will extend upto 2.8 KM from Sabroom Ramji Para. The official further said that, a preliminary trial run will be held followed by passenger train. There will be 10 railway stations at places including Sekerkot, Bisalgarh, Bisramganj, Udaipuir, Gorji, Santir Bazar, Belonia, Jolaibari, Monu, and sabroom between Agartala- Sabroom rail link.  There will also be some station building and rest house in between the Agartala- Sabroom rail link.

However, all the land disputes between Agartala and Udaipur have been settled with payment of compensation money to the dislocated families because of railway track laying.

The long awaited dream of Broad-gauge conversion work goes in full swing at various railway tracks of Agartala. After the successful BG (broad gauge) trial run of a diesel engine from Lumding to Silchar the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working hard at much more faster pace to bring Agartala under the country’s Broad Gauge Network.

Sabroom would emerge as a gateway for trade in the South-East Asia. It is learnt that, funds have been sanctioned for the construction work long back.

Udaipur would be connected by broad gauge railway line by March 2016, and it is worthy to be mentioned here that currently the project work of BG conversion is going under full swing at Gomati district.

It is expected that the BG rail line up to Udaipur under Gomati District would be commissioned by March 2016 besides the rail line up to Sabroom would be commissioned by 2017.

However, the BG conversion work to link Agartala with other areas of the North eastern region is undergoing full swing with thousands of workers engaged to it. The successful run of the trains on the broad-gauge track will bring sync with those in the rest of the country and Tripura is gearing up for faster connectivity and communication with several parts of the nation
