AGARTALA, September 4 (TIWN): Despite the police and Judge of Sabroom taking suo motto had lodged an FIR against the unruly CPI-M cadres, no arrest has been made yet. At the meantime state law minister Tapan Chakroborty told media that legal action needs to be taken against the picketers for unruly behaviour towards the court judge and police. The FIR named CPI-M cadres while picketing on Wednesday at Sabroom and also at Belonia, had attacked the Judges of both the SDJM court and also left police injured in the attack.
Besides, Chakroborty condemning the incident occurred during the 24 hours general strike said that the government had recently received a letter from the state High Court in regard of the incident took place at Sabroom. On being asked Chakroborty said, “No, the government had not recived any letter from the HC in regard of the incident at Belonia yet now.”
Just after the incident took place at Sabroom and also at Belonia, it was reported to the High Court Chief Justice Deepak Gupta who was seen worried over the issue while pronouncing judgements in the court on Thursday.
Chakroborty said, “One can only request another to participate in the strike but one do not have right to make an attack on him or her in regard of the same issue,” adding he also said that attacking on the judges means to make an attack on the judicial system of the state.
However, the incident has triggered huge resentment among the lawyers of the state. Police said no one has been arrested yet in connection to the case. After receiving the letter from the HC Chief Minister Manik Sarkar forwarding the letter to the Chief Secretary Y P Singh had asked to take a legal action against the picketers.
