Congress MLA Parimal Saha murder case: Evidences misplaced, relief for  accused CPI-M goons

AGARTALA, September 3 (TIWN): After three long decades, the brutal murder case of Congress MLA Parimal Saha started after High Court direction recently. The chief justice directed to restart the hearing proceeding which remained paused during the long rule of CPIM) and five years Cong – TUJS coalition. From August 22, the case started for hearing at the additional district and session court. Besides, for speedy completion of hearing the court also issued some guidelines including an appointment of special public prosecutor on behalf of the prosecution.According to report, police have to submit name of at least 30 vital things related to murder of the MLA. Even the vehicle in which he was travelling before getting murdered was not mentioned in the list. It’s matter of serious concern and laxity from the part of police investigation team failing to safe guard the vital things of the high profile murder case.The public prosecutor said, all things gathered by the investigation team from the place of occurrence is very vital for speedy trial of the case. The things that are missing are blood stained cloths, bomb splinters, weapons used for murder.It is mentionable here High Court asked the state government to reply why the murder case of sitting MLA Parimal Saha has not been disposed in the last 32 years.

Congress MLA Parimal Saha was brutally killed by some unknown assailants on Agartala Bishalgarh highway in April 1983 at Bishalgarh of West Tripura during Block Advisory Committee election. The ruling Left Front led by Nripen Chakraborty was in power during that period. 

The case could not proceed until 1988 when Congress-led coalition government came to power. Police had submitted charge sheet against 26 accused and accordingly the trial began.

The court had also recorded the statement of the witnesses. According to record, immediately after the incident, police had arrested 18 people in connection with the murder and charge sheet was submitted to District and Sessions court, West Tripura against 16 accused. During trial, two charge sheeted accused died.
