AGARTALA, Sept 3 (TIWN): Blaming West Bengal CM Mamata Banarjee, on Wednesday, Tripura CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar said, “In manner which WB Chief Minister Mamata Banrjee dealing with opposition parties is totally against democracy and not acceptable. It’s one kind of autocracyâ€. However, Bijan Dhar further pooh-poohed the Central Govt. too by saying, “Whether we talk about West Bengal CM or Modi govt., they all are neglecting demands of poor people. If people cannot demand in this country openly, then for whom democracy is?â€It’s to be mentioned that WB CM earlier said that CPI-M is nation’s enemy and donot want any Industrial Development. Amidst so called tight security in Tripura, in most disgusting manner, Sabroom Court Magistrate Saurav Saha was attacked by the CPI-M picketers in front of the Sabroom Court Office on Wednesday. Even though strike was utter failure nationwide except few communist presence states like Tripura,Bengal, Kerala but business bodies estimated the day's loss at Rs.25,000 crore as the strike crippled defence production, banks, insurance companies and the postal department besides strongly affecting almost all mines, steel industry and the power sector. Violence reported across Tripura as CPI-M cadres used ’24 hrs strike’ to unleash violence towards opposition, disrupting public life, also 2 murders reported from Udaipur.
However, in return to WB CM’s comment Dhar said that “Govt. should think about poor people first, and CPI-M is exactly doing this here”, added, “We fully support the strike and through this strike public is demnading their rights’.
However, Dhar futher said that countrywide in many places people are observing this strike peacefully. According to reports, Dhar said, “From Delhi to many states of the country obseved strike too”.
Comparing Tripura and other states Dhar pooh-poohed and said, “People are observing strike very peacefully in Tripura. Violence is far way from state”.
However, Dhar was shy to mention violence across Tripura on wednesday.
However, in this nation-wide strike called by 10 central trade unions on Wednesday has hit normal busy life in Left ruled Tripura. Government and non-government offices, educational institutions remained shut. In support of 12-points demands, which include withdrawal of labour law amendments and a minimum wage the strike had been called.
