AGRATALA, September 2 (TIWN): A dawn to dusk general strike was observed under the strict vigilance of police on Wednesdayat Agartala as a part of the nationwide strike.
The nationwide strike called by trade unions and other outfits on Wednesday, in protest against the alleged anti-labour/people policies of the Central Government, has secured the support of various organizations in the State.
Huge security was deployed in several part of the state to conduct the strike peacefully. With the aim to conduct peaceful strike in the state large number of police personal were deployed in the peak zone of the city to curb any occurrence of untoward incident in the state.
As a part of the strike, the picketers hold rally at different part of the state to mark the strike in the state.

Crores of workers in public and private sector, including banks and insurance companies, several outfits representing informal sector workers also today announced their support to the strike and kept their organization closed.
The strike has also affected the functioning of essential services like banking, transport and supply of power, gas and oil.
The general strike is held across the nation demanding for 12 points charter of demands in one voice condemns the BJP-led NDA Government’s anti worker, anti-peasants, anti-people and pro-corporate and many others.
However, the declared country wide united protests and resistance through General Strike on September 2 is against these above policies and to pursue with the 12 points charter of demands.
As many as 12 central trade unions had given this strike call over a 12-points charter of demands, including withdrawal of the proposed changes in the labour laws and stopping the disinvestment and privatization of PSUs.
