AGARTALA, September 2 (TIWN): A state level awareness programme has been observed on the 30th National Eye Donation Fortnight on Tuesday at Sukanta Academy.
Addressing at the programme, Minister for Health & Family Welfare Badal Choudhury Individuals of any age can donate the eyes. He said that every individual should desire to donate eyes on their demise.
Minister Choudhury also mentioned that eye donation provides the blind people an opportunity to regain their vision through the corneal transplantation. Besides, we can also light the life of the blind people by donating eyes.
Besides, the posthumous body donation would also help the students of medical to learn more about the medical science. Furthermore, he mentioned that after death the body of a human being get burnt doing no help to the world, but if it is donated than it will help the students.
It has been mentioned that the National Eye Donation Fortnight is celebrated every year from August 25 to September 8.
The celebration of the great campaign is being done in order to promote the eye donation process as well as to put forth the significant message to the people for being the special part of eye donation or eye pledging for giving normal life to the common public.
However, Mayor Prafullajit Sinha, Family welfare and Preventive Medicine, Director of Dr. K. L Bhowmik and other were present at the programme.
