International Literacy Day to be observed

AGARTALA, August 29 (TIWN): Keeping eye on the upcoming International Literacy Day, various initiatives has been taken to celebrate the day on September 8 at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan.

Speaking in a meeting, Chief Officer of Education Department of ADC Amardip Debbarma said that with the initiatives of the ADC a programme will be organized at Jirania, Belbari, Mandai Block and Jirania Nagar Panchayat.

However, Additional District Magistrate of West RK Noatiya said that the main programme of the celebration of International Literacy Day will be held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan.

Besides, Old Agartala, Mohanpur, Bamutoya, Lefunga, Hejamara, Dukli Block, Ranir Bazaar and Mohanpur Municipal Council will also celebrate the day, said Noatiya.

However, Coordinator of West District Literacy Society Shekhar Ranjan Choudhury informed that the final assessment exam of Standard three fro newly literate has been organized on July 11.

He also informed that total 7322 student has set for the exam and 6713 has passed the exam.

He further said that among the passed number of student, who have managed to hold 1st, 2nd and 3rd position will be awarded on International Literacy Day.

The meeting has been presided over by President of West Tripura District Society Dilip Kumar Das.

During the meeting, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha, MDC Sukumar Debbarma, Chairperson of Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti Sabita Das, West District Magistrate Dr. Milindh Ramteke and others were present at the programme.
