KAMALPUR, August 29 (TIWN): Police led by OC Swapan Sengupta and Probationer DSP Shankar chandra Das scored success against the contraband smuggling here on Friday afternoon. The raid and seizure took place on Fatikroy-Halhali NEC road adjacent to Durgachowmuhani bazaar.
Acting on a tip-off, police stopped the Agartala onwards Kamaleswari travels bus bearing number TR-04-1224 and arrested two youths namely Dipankar Banik of Khowai Puran Bazaar and Bikash Banik of Agartala Master Para adjacent to Durgachowmuhani around 3-30 pm.
Police also seized 200 bottles of Corex cough syrup from their bags.
On their information it got revealed that one Shankar Banik, brother of Dipankar was the main of this racket. Then police spread a net and contacted with Shankar through Dipankar and made him reach the spot. As Shankar reached the spot police also nabbed him.
OC Swapan Sengupta confirmed that the trio would be booked under NDPS Act. and police would continue their raid against contrabands items and their dealers.
