AGARTALA, August 27 (TIWN): Arguing the centre’s Act East Policy Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar meeting with the Union Minister for Finance pointed out that there is a need to upgrade the industrialisation in the state which sees a progress in the sector as there is a demand of neighbouring states and country.
In view of this Sarkar said, “The government urged the centre to announce a special incentive package for the growth of industrialisation.”
Adding to that Sarkar said that earlier the then government at the centre announced the same but the present government had discontinued the package.
Sarkar was talking to the reporters at the civil secretariat on Wednesday after meeting the Union Minister.
He also pointing out the persistence of extremist in the northeastern region urged the centre to take an initiative towards rescuing the NE states from insurgent activities.
However in this regard Sarkar told reporters, “Due to lack of work and proper placement in this region the extremists have ultimately found this path” adding to that Sarkar also said since 4 to 5 decades the extremist persisted in this region.
A month ahead of AAP government's proposed conclave on Centre-State relations, Sarkar On August 24 met his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and discussed issues related to the country's federal structure. Sarkar said, “Following Kejrowal’s invitation I met with him at his office after the conclusion of central committee meeting at Delhi.”
"We have discussed the issue of Centre- State relationship and the federal structure of the country,” Sarkar said.
