AGARTALA, August 26 (TIWN): All the 20 civic-bodies were given the responsibility to give special emphases on cleaning of roads with extra care till October 10 prior to the Bengali’s grand festival celebrated every year Durga Puja, said State Urban Development Minister Manik Dey on Tuesday.
Talking to the reporters here at the civil secretariat on Tuesday Minister Manik Dey said that a special cleanliness drive has been taken up by the urban body authority.
Dey urged urban authorities to include their maximum number of staffs for the ensuing cleaning of roads and marquee surroundings in view of the rush to be increased during the festival. The staffs have to discharge their duties by rotation in all the urban bodies, so that they do not become tired and restless, he added.
The urban bodies should make sure that these facilities are also kept in a plan to make available for all the five days of Durga Puja festival including ‘Shasthi’.
He asserted, Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Corporations have to open control room during the festival and numbers should let known to the masses of these 20 urban bodies so that, the cleaning work can be conducted as soon as possible.
