ATM loot: Police fails to arrest 2 absconding miscreants

AGARTALA, August 25 (TIWN): After one week of the mysterious incident where a suspected gang of 7 robbers have looted and lifted the entire ATM machine from Beltali ATM kiosk under A.D.Nagar police station on Aug 18 midnight, police is yet in dark and failed to arrest the 2 more absconding culprits related to the theft case.Talking to TIWN correspondent on Tuesday, AD Nagar police officials said that nothing concrete evidence is found from the interrogation with the arrested culprits related to the 2 absconding culprits and police is further investigating the case.Police is suspecting that the absconding miscreants related to the theft case might have fled to Guwahati to escape the arrest. It is to be mentioned here, in a daring heist the hi-tech robbers looted one ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) on 18 August night from Agartala Arundhutinagar Beltoli area under A.D.Nagar police station. However, 5 has been detained in connection to the incident, including the driver, police said. According to the police, the robbers came in van bearing number AS6928 and thronged into the ATM counter.The arrested accused are identified as Shahjahan Ali (23), Ajnor Ali (32), and Ranjan Das (18) Amar Rudra Pal of A.D.nagar and police has also nabbed one Prabal Dey for carrying out the process of breaking the lock of the ATM machine in his wielding shop at Aralaia on the night of the incident.

However, police has also recovered the stolen Automated Teller Machine (ATM) from the Howrah River under west Tripura in Ranir Bazar Ghoramara area which was allegedly stolen by the robbers on Tuesday late night. Four dive men with the help of crane picked up the ATM machine from the river.

According to available information from the locals, the miscreants tried to break the lock of the ATM of SBI bank on Tuesday mid-night; failing to break the ATM the miscreants eloped with the entire ATM machine.

A police official said that the ATM robbery took place under the cover of darkness. Taking advantage of the darkness, the robbers executed their plan and thronged into ATM counter. The official further said that the robbery was a well thought out plan as the robbers came equipped with all the tools required to carry out the robbery. 

Asked about development of the case, police said the AD Nagar police team is conducting raid in different areas to trace out the absconding miscreants of the gang.
