ATM robbery : One more detained from Aralia with about Rs 1.15 lakh

AGARTALA, August 21 (TIWN): In another major breakthrough, A.D.Nagar police along with the West police on Friday morning detained one Prabal Dey from Aralia Rishi colony area in allegation of involvement in the ATM loot incident at Beltali area under A.D.Nagar police station on Tuesday midnight. After the recovery of the ATM machine from Ranir Bazaar Ghuramara area and nabbing of 4 robbers, police on Friday nabbed one Prabal Dey for carrying out the process of breaking the lock of the ATM machine in his wielding shop at Aralaia on the night of the incident. Reportedly, on the night of the incident on Tuesday the robbers after lifting the ATM machine from Beltali ATM kiosk rushed to the wielding shop of Prabal Dey and with the help of the hi-tech equipments and tools the robbers carried out the mission of breaking the security lock of the ATM machine, said Superintendent of Police Bijoy Nag. However, the accused Prabal Dey said that the robbers after lifting the ATM machine at 2.30AM from Beltali came to his shop ‘Joy Ram Wielding shop’ at Aralia and according the plan he with all his tools broke the lock of the ATM, collected the money from the ATM machine and distributed the money among themselves.

He also said that from the entire hefty amount he only got 1 lakh 40 thousand and the rest of the money was distributed among the other robbers.However, police is claiming that they have only recovered Rs 1 lakh 15 thousand 700 from Prabal Dey and the rest of the money is yet missing.The four nabbed robbers who looted the entire ATM machine from Beltali were sent to 5-days of police custody by the local court on Thursday.

Police is suspecting that an inter-state racket is involved in the crime. The cops are claiming that they are investigating and would soon arrest the other accused who is yet absconding.  

In a daring heist the hi-tech robbers looted one ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) on Tuesday late night from Agartala Arundhutinagar Beltoli area under A.D.Nagar police station.

5 have been detained in connection to the incident, police said. According to the police, the robbers came in van bearing number AS6928 and thronged into the ATM counter.

The arrested culprits identified as Shahjahan Ali (23) of Assam Dabari area, Ajnor Ali (32) of Haju in Kamrup district,  Ranjan Das (18) of Udaipur Agricultural office and Amar Rudra Pal of A.D.nagar was nabbed from Churaebari while they were on their way to escape from the scene .

Police confirmed that the thieves came from Assam from a van bearing number AS6928. One culprit is yet absconding, claimed police.

The ATM counter is located just adjacent to the AD Nagar police station and still the robber’s managed to flee with the entire ATM machine. According to the police the incident took place on Tuesday midnight. The looters managed to lift the ATM machine from Beltoli ATM counter. The ATM belongs to the SBI, said police.

Asked about development of the case, police said the AD Nagar police team is conducting raid in different areas to trace out the absconding miscreant of the gang.

However, police is further investigating the case and said that they don’t have any more details to disclose as the culprits are not yet interrogated thoroughly.
