AGARTALA, August 19 (TIWN): On another daring robbery, one ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) was looted of Rs 30 Lakhs, lifted out on Tuesday midnight from Agartala Arundhutinagar Beltoli area. However, no arrest has been in connection to the incident, police said.According to the police the incident took place on Tuesday mid-night right near AD Nagar Police Station. Some unidentified looters managed to lift the ATM machine from Beltoli ATM counter. The ATM belongs to the SBI, said police.Asked about development of the case, police said the AD Nagar police team is currently conducting a raid in and around the area to trace out the ATM machine. Lakhs of money was credited in the ATM machine. It is to be mentioned here that looting of ATM machines and cash either from the ATM or from bank customers account has rampant across the state whereas the police had so far failed to trace the main culprit linked to it. Tripura CM Manik Sarkar has penchant to appoint many corrupt officials in high posts like Police DGP K. Nagraj, Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar who are not only tainted but involved in multiple scams and undergoing vigilance, CBI investigations. Tripura Police DGP K.Nagraj was chargesheeted by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for possessing assets 500 times more than his known source of income.

Tripura is the only State in country whose Director General of Police himself was chargesheeted by CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) in 2007 and an accused of financial crimes. Untill Tripura CM wakes up from deep slumber, State's Law & Order remains in  disarray.

Tripura’s “president colored” Police deserved those medals during the tenure of hardworking  DGPs G.M.Srivastava, K. Salim Ali; however under the leadership of tainted and CBI under trial K.Nagraj , Tripura police is failing miserably in one case after another to convict the culprits.

In recent high profile case of Rs 51 crore MGNREGA scam, due to police ineptness in filing a proper chargesheet within 180 days, scamster Bimal Chakraborty got out in bail. Now same ineptness is being repeated in recent Kalpana Das murder case as Police failed to chargesheet prime accused JIten Das even after 3 weeks of crime.

Unfortunately, in Tripura’s history, Chief Minister picked such a tainted IPS officer for the DGP’s post who  himself indulged in financial crimes, charge-sheeted by CBI in March 29, 2007 for corruption of disproportionate assets case of purchasing real estates by spending 500 times money than the Nagraj’s  known sources of income/ salary.

TIWN reached out to CBI officials Vijay Bahadur and DIG Ashiwni Chand who led the investigation and filed chargesheet against Kasinadhuni Nagraj for massive corruption. CBI also found that Nagraj was operating as many as 16 bank accounts and three bank lockers.
Due to pending CBI cases against Nagraj, rather than full-phased DGP, he remained as the longest serving in-charge DGP of Tripura.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on March 29,2007 charge-sheeted I/C-DGP of Tripura police K. Nagraj for possessing assets 500 times more than his known source of income.
Nagraj, an IPS officer of the 1983 batch of the Manipur-Tripura cadre, was charge-sheeted along with his father and brother in the court of the Special Judge, Hyderabad, for possessing assets in his own name as well as in the names of his family members.
CBI had registered the disproportionate assets case against him in 2005, filed  FIR.
Investigations by CBI revealed that during 1978 to 1997, the officer K.Nagraj had acquired assets and incurred expenditure to the tune of Rs 83.42 lakh against an income of Rs 13.24 lakh from all his known sources of income.
“The officer was found to have possessed disproportionate assets to the tune of over Rs 70 lakh during the period that is to the tune of more than 500 per cent compared to the known sources of income,” said G Mohanty, spokesperson of CBI in 2007.
Nagraj had bought most of his properties in posh localities of Hyderabad and according to the prevailing market their price would now run into Rs. 90 to 100 crores.
“The properties acquired by him include a house and a plot in the posh Banjara Hills, flat in Yellarddyguda, a house and a plot in Jubilee Hills, flat in Somajiguda, Hyderabad, plots in Guttalu Begumpet, a shop in Abids and eight plots in Renga Reddy District of Andhra Pradesh,” a senior CBI official said.
Hyderabad real estate prices jumped exponentially from 1978 – 1997 to 2015 and current market value estimate of Nagraj properties :
A house and a plot in the posh Banjara Hills : Rs 24 crores approx
A Flat at in Yellarddyguda  :  Rs 2 crores approx
A  house and a plot in posh Jubilee Hills : Rs 29 crores approx
A flat in Somajiguda, Hyderabad : Rs 1.5 crores approx
Plots in Guttalu Begumpet (Rs 8 crores), a shop in Abids  (Rs 12 crores)and eight plots in Renga Reddy District of Andhra Pradesh ( approx. 14 crores).
All together Rs. 90.5 crores assets approx. – so K. Nagraj can be termed as the richest and most corrupt DGP in India, which explains why Tripura Chief Minister chosen him for the DGP Post.
Investigations revealed that Nagraj’s father and brother helped him acquire these assets.
The officer had remained on deputation with Andhra Pradesh State Police, Central Reserve Police Force and Bureau of Police Research and Development and later moved back to parent MT cadre Tripura Police.
CBI case is still in progress against Tripura's i/c DGP K.Nagraj, if convicted Tripura DGP K.Nagraj might end up in Jail.  From rampant rapes on children to women, thefts, robbery is on rise in Tripura under the leadership of this lameduck tainted IPS officer.
