Tapan Chakroborty and Smriti Irani meeting; State Education System discussed

DELHI / AGARTALA, August 19 (TIWN): Minister of Human Resource and Development Smriti Irani and State Education Minister Tapan Chakroborty held a meeting at Delhi on Tuesday evening. However it is the first meeting between these two ministers.

It’s to be mentioned that Tapan Chakroborty left for Delhi on Tuesday morning. He is exppected back on August 21.

According to the official sources, Tripura State education Minister raised the issue of sudden decision by the central govt. to decrease the amounts of sanctioned money in various central schemes which was earlier fully paid by the central. From Mid-day-meal to Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha, Sarbashiksha in every schemes, central has decreased the amount of money while sanctioning for the state Tripura.

According to the reports, the recruited 139 employees’ salaries are not being paid by the central govt. anymore, which had become a major worry for the state govt.

It’s to be mentioned here that after the High Court case had issued notification to the state govt. regarding the recruitment of teachers, it is the first time when Tapan Chakraborty would meet central minister. So possibility is high that this issue may also arise in the meeting.

Moreover, the state govt. has decided to start the State University which was a key factor of discussion, because without the permission of the central govt. no college can be brought under the State University.

Moreover the issues related to make any new Education Institution as IIT and IIM would have also been discussed, says sources. 

It is to be mentioned that Tapan Chakraborty is considered as the most underperformer minister when comes to any Govt Dept he held or currently holding - from Health to Education to IT and Industry , every department under him is a major failure.
