AGARTALA, August 14 (TIWN): Governor Tathagata Roy greeted the people of Tripura on the auspicious occasion of the Independence Day on Wednesday.
In his message, he had expressed that we are proud that after prolonged fight with the British the freedom fighters of our country had succeeded to free our country from the British rule.
The freedom fight of our country is the era which we can share very proudly to other. Besides, it is a very important part of History of Mankind, he added.
Wishing for good health and happiness as well as progress and prosperity of the people of State, he expressed confidence that the occasion of Independence Day will be celebrated peacefully.
He further said that with an aim to minimize the number of poverty we have to work together and have to develop the economy of the state.
However, greeting the people of the state, Governor expressed peace and prosperity in the life of the people. He wished that the celebration of the Independence Day should be successfully celebrated in the Country.
On the eve of Independence Day, the President of India delivers the "Address to the Nation". On 15 August, the Prime Minister hoists the Indian flag on the ramparts of the historical site Red Fort in Delhi. Twenty-one gun shots are fired in honour of the solemn occasion.
India attained independence following an Independence Movement noted for largely nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience led by the Indian National Congress (INC).
Independence coincided with the partition of India, in which the British Indian Empire was divided along religious lines into the Dominions of India and Pakistan; the partition was accompanied by violent riots and mass casualties, and the displacement of nearly 15 million people due to sectarian violence.
