Bijita Nath inaugurates State level women cultural festival

AGARTALA, July 26 (TIWN): Inaugurating the two-day long state level women cultural festival on Saturday evening at Kailashahar Town Hall, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Bijita Nath said that the fight for equal respect of both man and women is still not finish. The women have to fight for their rights and have to prove their capability.

Addressing the programme, Minister Nath said that the woman plays an important role in the world. Today, in every sector of the state around 50 percent are women are working and successfully establishing their position.

Stressing to establish a position in the state, Minister Nath further stated that every women of the country has to come forwards to develop the country. She also said that we have to remember that women are the backbone of our society.

She said that thousands of legal cases of domestic violence are seen throughout the country. Abortion is also another problem that women are faced with and it has to be stopped.

Addressing the programme, MLA Tunubala Malakar said that initiatives must be taken to encourage the women towards various cultural activities. He also stressed that along with other social activities the women should also stand for their rights.

The programme was inaugurated by Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Bijita Nath, in the presence of DM of Unakoti District Mrinal Kanti Nath, Director of Information and Cultural Affair Santu Debbarma and others.

Culture includes food habits, dress pattern, language, songs, dance, knowledge, attitude, behavior, life styles, ritual, religious beliefs and everything that is associated with the activities of life right from birth to the death of a person and to bring forward and to revive the culture ICA has taken this initiative to hold a women based cultural fest at Kailsahar.

During the festival, singing and various stage events like street play, dancing and poetry has been organized. During the programme, women from different district participated at the festival.
