AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN);The ruling CPI(M) after disintegration of tribal voters, a strong bastion in hilly areas, now, their strong bastion in tea gardens are also first disintegrating. In Mohanpur sub division quite a number of tea garden workers have joined BJP and other opposition party trade unions. All them are reported to supporter of CPI(M) since decades long. They were dillusioned by the double standard of approach of the ruling party trade union leaders.
The leaders pretend themselves as they are fighting for the cause of tea workers but under cover they safe guard the interest of tea garden workers. The tea garden works, mostly from Jharkand was once strong bastion of CPI(M), their genuine vote banks. But gradually, the bastion is quickly disintegrating.
Till the date the daily wage of a worker is below Rs 100, whereas they are working in the garden during ancestral times. But now the workers are trying to rise their voice for justice, but ruling party leaders threatens them of dire consequences.
The workers are working for century long, ironically they have no right over the land. As per law, each family should be provided right to land and free housing. But the CITU leaders are mum on the issue, they are least concerned.
The law says in tea garden no other standing crops can be cultivated, where as many tea garden owners are now giving interest on rubber and bamboo cultivation.
But the ruling party leaders are indirectly supporting the illegal cultivation. If the ruling CPI(M) fails to safeguard the interest of the workers than the day is not far like hilly areas their another storng bastion will fall like hosue of cards in future.
