Tripura to re-form skill development mission

AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): To run skill development activities in the state, a working committee is set up to re-form state skill development mission to enable youths to get employment opportunities.

The working committee is to be headed by Chief Secretary Y.P Singh to re-form state skill development mission.

The move came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the National Skill Development Mission.

The Tripura Skill Development Mission would be headed by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. Under the proposed scheme, youths would be trained as per their capabilities, merit and make them employable.

A separate directorate would be constituted to run various skill development activities in the state.

An expert group would be constituted to assess and conduct the study about the requirement of funds, necessary infrastructure, number of people likely to be trained and other related matters

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched his pet project Skill India Campaign in New Delhi on the occasion of the first ever World Youth Skills Day which included the launch of the National Skill Development Mission and unveiling of the new National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015.

 

He also called for constant updating of training programmes and syllabi to ensure that the youth are exposed to the latest technology and industry environment. Linking the necessity to promote apprenticeship and entrepreneurs, the prime minister said that it was important to predict the possibilities of the future and prepare for them today itself.
