KAMALPUR, July 24 (TIWN): The long secluded and unguarded satellite earth station of BSNL merely saved a big jolt of theft as the thieves entered into the office breaking the gate and grill and a local youth by chance saved the theft. However the role of the authority still remained reluctant enough about the incident.

According to the police and locales, yesterday night around 2-30 am some thieves broke into the secluded earth station of BSNL at Guaradtilla at Kamalpur here. They somehow took out the 39 dry cell batteries long unused from the premise to the Kamalpur-Ambassa road.

Around 3 am a neighbor namely Sentu Das came out of his house and saw the batteries near the road. At once he raised a hue and cry and other locales came forward to nab the thieves.

But somehow the thieves escaped. Then the locales informed the police and BSNL staffs. They rushed to the spot. The police after primary inspection became assured that nothing was stolen and instructed the staffs to take back the batteries to the office.

However, the security of the complex came under serious threat and if not remedied soon then theft or robbery might take place at any time. Now what steps would BSNL adapt to safeguard their lakhs of properties remained the question.
