AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): Considering the construction of fly-over work which undergoes in full-swing at Battala-Bordowali area, and further coupled with limited road infrastructure and paucity of parking space, has been playing havoc with the traffic management in the city on Monday morning. For the travelers it is a Herculean task to cross the junction over the Howrah Bridge particularly during the peak hours due to gigantic traffic jam.

The huge traffic jam did not even spare the Ambulance to move smoothly on Monday morning. The ambulance of a private hospital carrying patient was seen wrapped up in between the traffic jam.

Vehicles were seen moving in disorganized manner amidst of messy traffic.  The route from Battala-Bordowali area simply turned smoky with the continuous release of smoke from the vehicles which were witnessed gripped in the middle of traffic jam.

With the beginning of the construction work of the fly-over work at Battala which is now extended to Bordowali, the chaos of traffic congestion has become a regular course.  Many of the auto drivers simply denied for carrying passengers as it takes at least 30 to 45 minutes to cross the road from Bordowali to Battala due to the massive traffic jam.  And those who has carried passengers from Kamper bazaar, Amatali, Badharghat and siddhi Asharm has adopted a separate route to drop the passengers at Battala via Chowdhury mill side lane.

A driver clutched between the traffic jam at Battala over the Howrah Bridge said that driving through battala is really disappointing and time consuming and also results in wastage of CNG gas.  Many were witnessed standing for more than hours on the road side for auto.

Unauthorized parking of vehicles over the Howrah Bridge and on the roads is creating the chaos throughout the area making the movement of general public difficult. With ever-increasing number of vehicles, commuters are risking their lives daily by travelling in these road beasts not knowing whether they will safely reach their homes back. The daily travelling is not only frustrating, but a harrowing experience.

Loading and unloading of the passengers at the no-parking zone created mismanagement in the traffic movement. Thousands of vehicles remained stranded on the roads till 2 pm while the entire Battala town was virtually choked resulting into a chaos like situation there since Monday morning.

Carelessness attitude of Tripura Traffic and Police Department is responsible for this traffic jam on Monday morning.  Public has been suffering immensely day after day and it is expected that it will continue until the construction of flyover comes to an end.  Traffic department is least bothered to take any action for curbing the tension of traffic jam at battala.
