 Landslide strands passenger vehicles at Amarpur-Udaipur road

UDAIPUR, July 20 (TIWN): Heavy rainfall across Tripura with the onset of monsoon has created serious transportation problems; exaggerate by landslides and falling of tree along the Amarpur-Udaipur road at Matrangi Bari under Amarpur Sub-Division on Sundaymid-night.

The traffic was disrupted as the road connecting Udaipur and Amarpur town got disconnected after the landslide and a tree fall down on the road. With this incident a massive jam has been observed on Monday.

The tree has fallen in a turning point of the road where on one side it’s hilly and the other side is 100 metre deep pitch creating life danger for the commuters.

Currently, the tree has been removed slightly by the locals so that the vehicles can pass on but till now no initiatives has been taken by the concern authorities to clear the road for the commuters.

Though the tree has been slightly removed by the locals but the road is dumped with mud and stems of the tree creating harassment for the passengers and the drivers.

The bus drivers mostly unloaded the passengers while crossing the area so that they the passengers do not feel afraid and should not hit by any natural calamities. They are also afraid of taking risk because on the other side there is a 100 metre deep pitch.

The sudden falling of the tree also created traffic jam, forcing commuters to alter their routes. Though the road has got severely damaged by the landslide and falling of tree, there were no reports of injuries.

Heavy rain hit the state resulted in falling of trees and landslides in many areas of the state.

The monsoon hit the state from last three days, affecting the common people mostly who are residing near the river embankment.
