KAILASHAHAR, July 20 (TIWN): An over head water tank constructed in Jarultali Panchayat Ward no. 1, 8km away from Kailashahar Town remains idle for several years after the land owner opposed to use the water of the tank and constructed a boundary so that no one can use the water when the Panchayat did not keep their promise to give his son a job of pump operator.

Before constructing the tank, the Panchayat assured that land owner Bidhubhusan Roy (70) to provide the pump operator post to his son and released the land for the construction of the water tank. But after the construction was over in the year 2010 and after 3 months of water supply in the area, the land owner opposed to allow water supply in the area as his son was not yet appointed as pump operator.

When asked about the situation, Roy said that the tank was constructed in the year 2009 by spending around Rs.19 lakh. He said that in the year 2009 before constructing the tank the Panchayat assured to give the pump operator job to his son in exchange of half kani land. He further complained that to construct the tank they also uprooted the teak tree from the area.
