AGARTALA, July 19 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday inaugurated a housing complex consisting 192 flats in the complex at West Joynagar under AMC 11 amidst of several unsatisfactory issues of the residents of the flat.

There are numbers of families that have been identified as living in slums in various places in the city, and the idea of the project is to make Agartala slum-free, said CM Mnik Sarkar.

These flats are handed over to the beneficiaries.

The complex would have proper sewage treatment plant (STP), electricity, drinking water supply. The flats have a living room, a bathroom and kitchen and are expected to be inhabited by about thousands of people.

It is to be mentioned here that a total of 17 families of the flat are not satisfied with the services provided. Most of the rooms in the flat are small and the families who are consisting of 7 to 10 members are facing serious problems in adjusting.

Prior to the inauguration of the housing complex the residents of the flats raised up this issue to CM Manik Sarkar on Friday but he didn’t pay any notice to their allegation and asked them to meet the rural development minister. None of them gave any assurance to see into the matter. Some of the families further demanded for two flats for them as they had more number of family members but there demand was rejected.

The residents of the housing complex also alleged that a government housing complex is constructed for the residents of the Indira colony, Rajani Colony, Bidya sagar colony under West Joynagar but with the completion of the construction the authority informed the residents that they will not get any house in this complex.
