AGARTALA, July 17 (TIWN): Tripura government had challenged the occupants of 'khash' land saying that they might take any kind of legal step regarding the encroachment process to be taken up soon for the construction of Agartala’s first flyover. Once the encroachment is done, the two lane road beneath the flyover would come up to facilitate 70 per cent of the vehicles coming from South and enters Nagerjala bus stand, said PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury. Chowdhury clarified “Even if the occupants who had illegally occupied the khash land continues their movement demanding for non-encroachment of their land, the state government has nothing to do with that because we do have some rules and regulations through which we are moving ahead to introduce Agartala’s first flyover.” Chowdhury in view of the encroachment process to be carried soon had sought the co-operation of public so that the long awaiting dream comes true at last. “We are moving ahead to built double lane beneath the flyover bridge so that 70 per cent of the heavy loaded vehicles which comes from Southern side and enters Nagerjala bus stand can avail the road without touching the flyover,” adding Chowdhury said that this would introduce congestion free city. It is to be mentioned here that currently the encroachment process is postponed as a section of locals who had acquired the khash land had placed a deputation with the state government and held a meeting twice seeking time.

Chowdhury had recently made it clear that during the survey work no jyut land has been found from Drop Gate to Battala but some of the khash lands were identified which would be encroached very recently.

He also said that even then if any khash land is found required to be encroached, then the state government would certainly pay the compensation to the families.

The flyover was a long term demand of the city dwellers and it needs to be introduced soon to contain heavy traffic congestion which is increasing along with the moving hands of the clock.

However later talking to DM (West) Dr. Milind Ramteke, he informed that once the state government gives a green signal, the concerned administration would kick off the encroachment process which is stalled now temporarily.

Recently, the authority of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) issued notice to almost all residents and shop keepers to give up 9 feet land to undertake fly over project. However, they are reluctant to give up the required land citing on the ground that they had already given land twice.

The encroachment issue has hit eviction drive to be carried out by the administration, following which DM West had assured that after conducting inquiry the land acquisition would be carried out.

Despite bad weather the entrusted engineers of the Nagarjuna Construction Company are actively engaged to the construction work of Agartala’s first ever 2 lane flyover road which would link Drop Gate with Fire brigade Chowmuhni via Battala.

After Battala, considered to be the main centre point of the flyover construction work, the engineers have carried out the drilling procedure up till Bordowali area amidst deployment of traffic police.
